FROM SYMPTOMS TO A PLAN

Specialist care looks at the whole picture

A symptom can have several causes, and more than one problem can coexist. My role is to connect your symptoms with the examination and any useful tests, then agree a plan that fits you.

  1. Understand your problem

We discuss what limits your life: exercise, sleep, intimacy, work or confidence. I assess pelvic support, bladder and bowel function, tissue health and muscle coordination as relevant.

  2. Match treatment to the findings

Options may include targeted physiotherapy, medicines, vaginal tissue treatment, pessary support or a procedure. Muscle treatment may focus on relaxation and coordination as well as strength.

  3. Use surgical expertise where it helps

My practice includes continence surgery and advanced pelvic floor reconstruction, including complex or recurrent prolapse. The operation is tailored to the support problem, previous surgery, health and your goals.

A tailored plan can address more than one area

For example, a bulge with difficult bowel emptying may involve support at the top and back of the vagina as well as muscle coordination. I assess which findings explain your symptoms before discussing a selected repair or a wider reconstruction. We discuss likely benefits, risks, alternatives and recovery together.

MAKE THE VISIT USEFUL

Bring your priorities, not a perfect label

Note what happens, when it started and what you most want to improve. Bring your medicine list, relevant urine results and details of previous birth injuries or operations, if available. A diary can help with bladder or bowel symptoms; it should not delay getting care.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Still unsure? That is a reason to talk.

If symptoms affect your comfort or everyday life, you can book without completing this finder. We can work through the overlapping symptoms together.
